All my friends don’t know Self-isolating Dropping down in the hole I thought it was warm Every morning, lets wake up and Invent the truth Next time I promise I’ll be good enough to Break through You can’t see nothing when you’re So far away So far away You can’t see nothing when you’re So far away So far away You can’t see nothing when you’re So far away So far away You can’t see nothing when you’re So far away At arm’s reach At arm’s reach At arm’s reach At arm’s reach I’ll keep you (You cannot come Into my house) At arm’s reach At arm’s reach At arm’s reach At arm’s reach I’ll keep you (You cannot come Into my house) I’ll keep you (You cannot get Into my head)

When the last breath of daylight goes It’s a liminal experience To be haunted with desire To lean into what can’t be described As the last breath of dusk fades away Oh liminal experience Take me with you Take me with you Reach For the stars Change Who you are Now Is where you live In time Now will cease to exist Reach For the stars We’re so meant for nothing We’re so meant for nothing We’re so meant for nothing

For Sale 08:41
Forced to live in metal boxes Like cows sent to slaughter No place to rest your head at night No home for all our sons and daughters Marching endlessly to the beat of the drum They bury their heads while we have the fun And we’re the ones who read the news This place this life it’s what we choose What we choose Don’t look Don’t look It’s coming It’s coming Don’t look Don’t look Don’t look It’s coming It’s coming Don’t look Don’t look Don’t look It’s coming It’s ‘round the bend Don’t look Don’t look Don’t look It’s coming It’s ‘round the bend Don’t look Don’t look Don’t look It’s coming It’s coming Don’t look Don’t look Don’t look It’s coming It’s coming Don’t look Don’t look Your children Are asking for Loose change Don’t look Don’t look Your children Are asking for Loose change It’s not your problem now Put your children up for sale It’s not your problem now Put your children up for sale It’s not your problem now Put your children up for sale It’s not your problem now Put your children up for sale

Standing in the cold Among and against your brothers It’s getting old When you don’t go home to your mother Take one last photograph (Preserve the memory) It’s your token of the past (Unable to forget) Afterwards, it drives you down (Drowning under mud) Even when it’s not around (The ghost lives in my home) Identities defined By imaginary lines All over a fucking Piece of paper Realities destroyed When your life is devoid Robbed of every last Little pleasure When you don’t go home Home to your mother

Life on Fire 04:47
Do you believe in tectonic plates Crashing together beneath our feet? The world is a scary place Sometimes in ways that we can’t see Do you feel the ocean swelling? Water rising to cover the land Can you hear the deafening sound of the mantra: “It’s not our time to die It’s not our time to die” - yet A breath of fresh air Just a modern convenience Every breath you take Wasted by your screaming And as the sun sets in the west Humanity is at its best Put yourself in the world’s position Do you hear the thunderous rage? Do you feel the temperature rising? Have you noticed your life’s on fire? Picture your lungs overflowing with smoke Wouldn’t it be amazing If you just couldn’t breathe anymore? Can you imagine your life on fire? Can you imagine your life on fire?

about

Forming in mid-2020 amidst pandemic-era restraints, three-piece Groningen band Slumbercloud was born from the memories of Seattle grunge. But ever since that birth, the band has abandoned their grungy roots to morph into a darker, noisier version of themselves; a dissonant edge has risen.

Feverishly chasing newfound passion, emotion and energy, Slumbercloud’s sound leaps effortlessly from noise rock to psychedelic, touching on stoner rock, post-hardcore punk and metal in the process. Each song is a bouquet of elaborate twists and turns, though never failing to offer deep reflection and social and metaphysical criticism with its lyrics.

After a debut year full of highlights, including packed-out shows at Vera Downstage and Het Pakhuis for Grunnsonic (ESNS) and the well-received debut EP Human Problem, 2024 has the band furiously writing new material, preparing to re-enter the studio, and playing their first shows outside of their hometown.

‘Human Problem’ is Slumbercloud’s introduction to the world, serving five eclectic yet unified songs which span the band’s wide influences and areas of inspiration.

All five songs feature cutting, sarcastic, and (at times) over-the-top lyrics that give insight into how the members of the band view the world, ranging in topics from mental health crises, war, environmentalism, existential thought, and social issues like the ongoing housing crisis in Groningen (and across the globe).
